Cultural (Heritage) Projects
Programme Description:
PACCL’s Cultural (Heritage) Projects are dedicated to preserving, revitalizing and promoting the rich cultural heritage of African communities. This programme focuses on capturing and safeguarding oral histories, indigenous knowledge systems, traditional practices, and unique artistic expressions that define communal identities and collective memory.
Through community-based research, storytelling initiatives, digital archiving and creative documentation, we work with local knowledge holders, elders, artists and youth to ensure that cultural traditions remain vibrant, valued and accessible across generations. These efforts not only protect endangered heritage but also celebrate the diversity and resilience of African cultures.
The programme promotes intercultural dialogue, strengthens community pride and identity, and encourages cultural continuity in the face of modernization and globalization. Whether through recording folktales and proverbs, showcasing traditional crafts and performances, or archiving endangered languages and customs, PACCL is committed to sustaining the living heritage of communities for the benefit of current and future generations.
Core Activities Include:
• Documentation of oral histories, traditional songs, and folklore
• Archiving of indigenous knowledge in areas such as medicine, agriculture and conflict resolution
• Promotion of traditional arts, crafts and performances
• Community workshops, exhibitions and public engagement events
• Intergenerational learning and storytelling sessions
• Digital preservation of cultural materials
Our Vision:
To create a lasting record of Africa’s cultural wealth while empowering communities to take pride in and ownership of their heritage.
