Research and publication
Programme Description:
The Research & Publications programme at PACCL is dedicated to generating and disseminating knowledge that deepens public and academic understanding of language, culture and identity across African communities. This initiative supports both rigorous scholarly research and the creation of accessible, community-oriented materials that reflect the lived realities, values and voices of diverse linguistic and cultural groups.
Our work spans academic studies, policy briefs, oral history documentation, language resources, and multimedia publications. These outputs aim to inform education, enrich curricula, support language revitalization efforts and foster inclusive development. By bridging academic inquiry and public engagement, the programme contributes to a more informed and appreciative understanding of Africa’s linguistic and cultural richness.
Publications are produced in multiple formats and languages to reach a wide audience, including educators, students, community members, policymakers and researchers. We prioritize ethical, participatory research methods and collaborate closely with local communities to ensure the work reflects and benefits those it represents.
Key Focus Areas:
• Academic research on African languages, oral traditions, identity, and culture
• Community-based participatory research
• Development of educational resources such as readers, storybooks, glossaries and teaching guides
• Publication of multimedia content including podcasts, video documentaries and digital archives
• Translation and dissemination of knowledge into African languages and accessible formats
Our Goal:
To promote inclusive knowledge production, preserve cultural and linguistic heritage, and make research findings available and meaningful to both scholarly and community audiences.
